on these novels!
The Duffer
Brothers, the creators of the “Stranger Things” spent lots of hours reading novels,
and watching films of course, to get inspired for their successful series.
Obviously, creating
the “Stranger Things” wasn’t an easy job to do!
Creepy monsters,
telepaths, 80s vibes, and alternative universes are wonderfully combined in one
show!
Now, let’s see which
exactly novels inspired those Brothers!
Books/Novels
- “It”- Stephen King is the main influencer of the series. Pennywise, It's namesake monster, is a child-stalking creature, whose origins are from beyond our regular universe."It" has a fair deal in common with Stranger Things' Monster, which also stalks children and originates from another dimension beyond our own. Also, as in “It”, in “Stranger Things” a group of kids band together against the threat.
- “Firestarter” by Stephen King - Like Eleven, the characters in Firestarter are telepaths whose powers are used in governmental experiments — and also like Eleven, they’re on the run from their former overlords.
- “The Hellbound Heart”, by Clive Barker- The novella’s horrific creatures were inspiration for the monster of “Stranger Things”, as the Duffers told in the Entrainment Weekly.
